Sleeves oxygen: description, dimensions, GOST and reviews

Currently, many works are carried out using welding. For this reason, oxygen sleeves have become quite popular material, besides they are simply transported.

What is a sleeve

A conventional oxygen sleeve is aFlexible long hose, which is made of a layer of cord yarn, protected on both sides by several layers of rubber compound. This product is the most in demand when working with welding. Of course, this material has a very narrow application, but, despite this shortcoming, it is today one of the most popular rubber products. The main purpose of this hose is the filling or supply of gases. Most often, this function is required when carrying out any industrial work.

Oxygen sleeves

Sphere of application of hose

Oxygen sleeves, for example, in production,are indispensable in order to supply substances such as oxygen, propane, acetylene and atmospheric air that come from stationary devices. Such stationary devices can be an oxygen line, an acetylene or propane balloon. Delivery is carried out from these products to the place where the industrial work is carried out. In addition, oxygen sleeves are successfully used in the manufacture of medical equipment. Most often see the use of such a hose can be in the medical life support system that supplies oxygen, or in a special suit, the main task of which is also to supply oxygen from the balloon to the mask.

Feedback from buyers about this thing stronglyare different. Some buyers are quite happy with the acquisition, they say that the hose can withstand loads, does not tear and does not crack. However, there are other statements. For example, they say that a conventional red acetylene acetylene hose, designed for 6 MPa, does not withstand pressure in some cases and tears. If you study the reviews about conventional rubber hoses, then some buyers claim that they often crack.

The oxygen sleeve consists of two components. The first element is the inner layer of rubber, the second element is the cord carcass, which is made of cotton fiber or from impregnated or impregnated fibers of the outer rubber layer. It is also important to note that if any visible damage to the sleeve is detected, its use is strictly prohibited. It is worth noting that these products have different colors. Depending on the color of the hose, the area of its application changes:

  • a red sleeve is used to work with acetylene, propane, butane, and also urban gas and has class 1;
  • the second class is a sleeve of yellow color, which is intended for transportation of liquid fuel;
  • The blue oxygen sleeve has a third class, and is used to transport oxygen.

But it's important to note that you can paint dataproducts and black, regardless of the class they belong to. In this case, a color risk (groove) is used, which determines whether this hose belongs to a certain class.

The following are used for designation:

  • one dash is the first class;
  • the second class is, respectively, two dashes;
  • third class - three.

The standard technical characteristics of these hoses are:

  • the inner diameter of the oxygen arm is 9 mm;
  • outer diameter of the hose - 22 mm;
  • the working pressure inside the product can reach 6.3 MPa;
  • GOST, according to which this product is manufactured - 9356-75.

Tests of sleeves

In the production of this product, it ispassing through laboratory as well as production tests. After the new product is developed and the complete processing of the technological process for its production is completed, the product is sent for production tests. The program of these tests of oxygen sleeves involves checking for compliance with the technical requirements that are imposed on this product. After the completion of the test phase, a decision should be made as to whether it is worth using this development, and whether to establish the production of this type of product.

Tests in the laboratory

It starts with the fact that laboratory testssubject to absolutely all materials that will subsequently be used to create an oxygen or oxygen-propane sleeve. The ingredients from which the rubber layer of the hose will consist will be tested. Also, all reinforcing materials will be tested, from which the power part of the product is made.

It is also important to note that after manufacturingrubber compound, glue or paste, before they are put into further production, another laboratory tests are carried out, the purpose of which is to find out whether the received material meets all the norms and requirements available in the normative documentation. The first thing that is evaluated is the elastic-strength characteristic. Physicochemical parameters of the obtained mixture are also evaluated. They must comply with all the norms and requirements, which are prescribed in GOST 270-75.

In addition to determining these characteristics, checkalso the hardness and elasticity of the resulting rubber, its resistance to frost or heat. Another factor that is also tested is the resistance of the hose to the gas that will be the worker.

Testing in production

It is important to know that there is no domestic productionstandardized test procedure for this product. Most often this type of verification is reduced to the fact that they evaluate the integrity of the product received, and also selectively control the dimensions of the hose. For those products that will operate under pneumatic or hydraulic loading conditions, it is mandatory to pass a leak test and safety margin.

In order to check the functioning of the hoseunder pressure, it is filled with working fluid until the air is completely displaced. After this, under the influence of the desired pressure, the hose is kept for the required amount of time. Variants are allowed, when instead of the usual time check, it is brought to the point of breaking. If we take into account the fabric hoses, then their tests are conducted in accordance with GOST 6867. It is important to determine the strength of the connection between the fabric and rubber elements of the structure.

This state standard establishes the standards and requirements for this type of product. From the technical requirements can be identified the following:

  • They must either be made from a rubber inner layer and a cotton casing, or be based on impregnated and unimpregnated chemical fibers, the outer layer is rubber.
  • This GOST also sets the requirements for the colors of this product in relation to its working environment.
  • The height of the reefs at the hose should be from 0.2 to 0.3 mm, but their width is from 0.4 to 0.5 mm. The distance between groups of dashes is from 3 to 4 mm.
  • It can be noted that if the sleeve belongs to the third class, it works with oxygen and it is painted black, then at working pressure up to 4 MPa, that is 40 kgf / cm2, the application of color bars or dashes is not necessary.

Marking, storage, delivery

test of oxygen sleeves

Mark on the sleeves that will beIt is necessary to operate in cold climatic conditions taking into account the normative documentation belonging to these objects. To carry out delivery or storage, all sleeves are connected and placed in coils. Diameter of the obtained bay should be not less than 300 mm. To connect such coils is necessary with the help of a cloth tape, the width of which is from 30 to 40 mm. In addition, to fix such a tape you need at least three places. The tape is made of calico or other material that can be used for dressing and ensures the safety of the sleeve packing.
